As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors during the freezing winter months, I’ve learned one hard truth: no matter how thick your jacket is, if your face, ears, and neck aren’t properly covered, the cold will find its way in.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve stepped outside wearing a beanie, scarf, and face mask, only to end up freezing anyway. My scarf would slip down, my ears would ache from the icy wind, and the cold, dry air would leave my nose irritated and my sinuses feeling uncomfortable.
And when you're walking through freezing temperatures or battling strong winter winds, even a short trip outside can become miserable.
For years, I accepted that numb ears, a freezing face, and constant discomfort were simply part of winter — until I realized the problem wasn't the weather. It was the winter gear I was wearing.
